The Jaen College of Veterinarians has signed a collaboration agreement with Yeguada Mendoza Cadema to contribute to the promotion and improvement of the P.R.E. horse breed through the breeding or insemination of the horse JINETE IX cataloged by ANCCE as an ELITE breeding stock.
Awarded for his genetic qualities, as well as his conformation and sport results, the son of Deseado XXXIX is already one of the leading stallions in the history of the P.RE such as Ermitaño III, Evento, Impaciente II, Cacique IX, Utrerano VII, Kabileño VIII, Americano XXXIII, Doblón TR, Duque CVIII, Pastelero VII and Yeguerito III.
Since the Purebred Spanish Selection and Improvement Program was launched at the beginning of the 21st century (2004), there are several stallions that have marked a before and after. According to ANCCE’s definition, elite breeding stock are those 7 years old or older with outstanding genetic qualities over the rest of the breed, who have got the category of Improved Breeding Stock in Conformation Aptitude for Dressage and in the category of Dressage. In a few words, they are stallions that throughout their work as a breeder have improved qualities, and have created a great lineage, maintaining the evolution and improvement of the P.R.E. breed.
At his 16 years old, Jinete IX plays a very important role in the offspring of Yeguada Mendoza Cadema. In a constant search to improve the lineage, Yeguada Mendoza bought the stallion in 2010. Since then, Jinete IX has played an important role in the Andalusian stud, being the main stallion.
Innate qualities for breeding
Jinete IX, bred by Leopoldo García Almazán and owned by Yeguada Mendoza Cadema, is a tall horse, whose chestnut coat stands out for its color. The plasticity of his beauty is not the only thing that gets attention, but also his quality of movements. Big, wide gaits, perfectly marking the tempo of each beat. His expressiveness, combined with his character, is an almost perfect equation for breeding the P.R.E. Nicolás Mendoza from Yeguada Mendoza describes Jinete IX as:
“A stallion with an excellent character, morphological aptitudes and ease of dressage. In a few words, a racial horse for sport. Regarding their quality of gaits, a very good walk, a bounding uphill canter and an elastic, expressive forward trot.”
